PATHOLOGY SERVICE EVENING/WEEKEND/HOLIDAY PROCEDURE
Animals for testing should be refrigerated or kept on ice, not frozen within 48 hours of passing. If you cannot get to the lab within 48 hours of the animal passing, freezing is acceptable. Please be advised this is not the ideal recommendation as free-thaw artifact can confound the tissue. Animals are accepted until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 3:00 p.m. Friday. The presence of CVMDL staff is required for submission. Submissions are not accepted outside of these times. NOTE: We accept all major credit cards. The necropsy fess are payable via check, money order, or credit card at the time of submission. CVMDL does not accept cash.
